BELLEVILLE, Ont. 鈥 Two municipalities north of Belleville, Ont., have declared states of emergency because of high water levels.
Central Hastings and Tweed made the announcement Tuesday evening, joining Belleville, which did it last Thursday.
Water levels continue to rise on the Moira River in the Belleville community of Foxboro, and also on Moira Lake in Central Hastings and Stoco Lake in Tweed.
Quinte Conservation general manager Terry Murphy says the levels on both lakes have surpassed the 鈥100-year event.鈥
Many roads in the three municipalities are closed because of flood conditions, and sandbagging operations continue in Foxboro and other areas along the river and the lake shorelines.
