The body of a second driver killed in a fiery crash near Kamloops Friday has been recovered.

Both drivers were killed around 7 p.m. when a logging truck and a semi-truck collided on Highway 5A, between Kamloops and Merritt.

The trucks burst into flames and while the body of one driver was pulled from the wreckage Friday night, the heat from the resulting grass-fire kept rescue crews from reaching the second body.

Coroner Barb McLintock says the identities of the drivers will not be released until family members have been notified.

One of the vehicles was reported to be a fuel truck.

The highway remained closed to all but emergency traffic until mid-day Saturday.

The regional fire centre says the blaze engulfed about 20 hectares, but crews are on site today extinguishing remaining hot spots.

Emergency crews from Kamloops and Merritt responded to the scene on Highway 5A near Stump Lake Ranch.
