Another silver-medal day for sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½'s Masse at the world short-course championships

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½'s Kylie Masse kept up sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½'s parade to the medal podium at the world short-course swimming championships on Saturday.

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½'s Kylie Masse kept up sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½'s parade to the medal podium at the world short-course swimming championships on Saturday.

Masse captured silver in the women's 200-metre backstroke for her second medal of the event, and sixth for the Canadian team.

Still, the 25-year-old from Windsor, Ont., was frustrated with her second-place finish. Masse led through the 100 and 150- metre marks before being caught by Rhyan White of the U.S., who won gold in two minutes 1.58 seconds.

Masse, a four-time Olympic medallist, touched the wall in 2:02.07, a day after she won silver in the 100 backstroke.

"I thought it was great to get on the podium, but the time is definitely not what I feel I’m capable of," said Masse, whose Canadian record in the event is 2:01.45.

Through three days of competition, sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½'s team of nine women and three men, all of whom competed at last summer's Tokyo Olympics, have three gold medals and three silver.

"We still have a long way to go," Masse said. "It's all about balancing and managing the emotions and pressures of these meets but it's been incredible to see the Canadian team step up and perform and even more amazing to see people put in the work every day."

The world short-course championships continue through Tuesday.
