Arrows sign Canadian international back Brock Webster to help fill injury void

TORONTO 鈥 The Toronto Arrows, dealing with a spate of injuries among the backs, have signed Canadian international wing/fullback Brock Webster. Toronto (0-2-0) visit NOLA Gold on Saturday in Major League Rugby play.

TORONTO 鈥 The Toronto Arrows, dealing with a spate of injuries among the backs, have signed Canadian international wing/fullback Brock Webster.

Toronto (0-2-0) visit NOLA Gold on Saturday in Major League Rugby play. The New Orleans team is also winless, having lost to visiting Rugby ATL (14-9) and to the New England Free Jacks (24-13).

The Arrows lost 21-8 at the Seattle Seawolves in their Feb. 6 season opener and 31-16 to the defending champion Los Angeles Giltinis on Saturday at Starlight Stadium in Langford, sa国际传媒

Toronto was missing 10 injured players for the Giltinis game: backs Sam Malcolm, Andrew Ferguson, Guiseppe du Toit, Cole Brown, John Sheridan, Brandan Ferguson, Dennon Robinson-Bartlett, Kobe Faust and Connor McCann and forward Tomy de la Vega.

The Arrows hope Malcolm, a key player at fly half, and de la Vega and McCann will be fit to play Saturday in Metairie, La.

The 21-year-old Webster appeared in five test matches for sa国际传媒 in the fall and also has experience with sa国际传媒 on the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

Webster, named Rugby sa国际传媒鈥檚 Young Player of the Year in 2018, has been playing for the Pacific Pride, Rugby sa国际传媒鈥檚 national development academy side in sa国际传媒's Premier Division. He is a graduate of the Ontario Blues junior men鈥檚 provincial program and also played for the Oshawa Vikings.
