The Calgary Stampeders re-signed Canadian defensive lineman Connor McGough on Thursday.
The six-foot-one, 249-pound McGough, of Medicine Hat, Alta., originally signed with Calgary on Feb. 11, 2020, but was placed on the retired list following the club's 2021 training camp.
"Last season, I had to temporarily put my career on hold to take care of my health," McGough said in a statement. "After consulting with doctors, I鈥檓 excited to announce that I鈥檝e been given the green light to return to the game I love and I can鈥檛 wait to get back on the field again."
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats selected McGough in the first round, No. 4 overall, in the 2017 CFL draft. He had 14 tackles, 33 special-teams tackles, a sack and two forced fumbles in 51 career games with the Ticats.
The Stampeders have also signed American defensive linemen Nik D鈥橝vanzo and George Obinna.
