sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½'s Butterworth 6th in 800m on last day of world indoor championships

BELGRADE, Serbia — sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½'s Lindsey Butterworth came in sixth in the women's 800 metres on the final day of the world athletics indoor championships Sunday.

The 29-year-old from North Vancouver, sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½, crossed the finish line in two minutes 3.21 seconds.

American Ajee Wilson won gold with a time of 1:59.09. Ethiopia's Freweyni Hailu was second and Uganda's Halimah Nakaayi finished third.

The Canadians failed to reach the podium on the last day of the three-day event.

Damian Warner's heptathlon gold on Saturday was sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½'s only medal in Belgrade.

"I think our team performed well," said Athletics sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ coach Glenroy Gilbert. "Some athletes were disappointed, but others performed exactly as expected. It set the tone for a very positive season for most of the athletes."
