WINNIPEG 鈥 One of the NHL鈥檚 top marksmen led the New York Rangers to victory once again, but he was quick to deflect praise onto his teammates.
Forward Chris Kreider added another two goals to his season tally as New York defeated the Winnipeg Jets 4-1 Sunday night.
Kreider is tied with Edmonton's Leon Draisaitl for second in the NHL goal-scoring lead with 38 goals. Only Toronto's Auston Matthews has more (39).
鈥淭he team is playing well,鈥 Kreider said. 鈥淥ur play has been clicking. I am playing with some unbelievable linemates and unbelievable defencemen every time I鈥檓 on the ice.鈥澛
Kreider also tied his career high with 53 points.聽
鈥淵eah, he鈥檚 rolling pretty good,鈥 said Rangers coach Gerard Gallant. 鈥淎 big power-play goal tonight and he scored another nice goal, so the big guys are scoring big goals at key times. It put us in control of the game pretty good.鈥澛

It has become old hat for Gallant.聽
鈥淪ame old, same old,鈥 he said. 鈥淗e鈥檚 played great. He鈥檚 solid and made some big saves, especially the first period of the game. We got the early lead. It wasn鈥檛 a great game. I mean the shots (46 for Winnipeg) didn鈥檛 indicate the game for me. 鈥 He made some key saves.鈥澛

Yet another loss did not sit well with Ehlers.聽
鈥淥bviously, there are things that need to change and we need to do that now,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 don鈥檛 know how many games we have left, 26, 27 鈥 we want to make the playoffs, we鈥檝e got to start winning some games. It鈥檚 not in three or four games. It鈥檚 now."
The Jets have 26 games remaining.聽
鈥淲hat we want to do is make sure that we understand how we lost and, as a group, we have to stay together,鈥 said Jets coach Dave Lowry. 鈥淲e鈥檙e the guys that are going to work our way out of this. We have two games where we have 40-plus shots. We did a lot of things right.聽
鈥淲e know that we have to get ready for Tampa Bay. Every game is critical for us.鈥澛
