FuboTV acquires Canadian rights to English Premier League

TORONTO 鈥 FuboTV, a streaming service that offers sports and entertainment programming, has secured Canadian rights to the English Premier League for the next three seasons starting this summer.

The deal runs through the 2024-2025 season, covering 380 matches each season. The EPL rights in sa国际传媒 currently belong to DAZN sa国际传媒, another streaming service.

FuboTV already has the Canadian rights to Italy's Serie A and Coppa Italia as well as home matches of Mexico's Club Deportivo Guadalajara (Chivas). It also offers sports and entertainment channels like OneSoccer, beIN Sports, Benfica TV, MLB Network, Fight Network, Game+ sa国际传媒, Law and Crime, and Paramount Network.

鈥淭he Premier League is considered to be the best soccer league in the world and has a huge fan base in sa国际传媒,鈥 David Gandler, FuboTV co-founder and CEO, said in a statement. "This deal allows us to bring yet another top-notch property to FuboTV, further differentiating our content offering, and giving Canadians another reason to cut the cord for exciting, exclusive sports content."

FuboTV, a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange, also operates in the U.S., France and Spain.

Its Canadian arm began to focus on sports last August with the acquisition of Italian soccer rights. Previously it offered programming from content partners.

FuboTV currently costs $14.99 a month, $29.99 per quarter or $99.99 annually.

The company declined to say how many Canadian subscribers it has.

In the U.S., the EPL rights 鈥 both in English and Spanish 鈥 belong to NBC. The network retained those rights in November with a bid of more than US$2.7 billion over six years, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press.

NBC鈥檚 previous six-year deal, which began in 2016, was worth US$1 billion.
