NEW YORK — The NHL fined Ottawa Senators forward Josh Norris US$2,000 for a second case of diving/embellishment on Friday.

The league said it gave Norris a warning after he embellished during a game against the New York Islanders on Nov. 7.

Norris was flagged for diving again on Dec. 5 against the Detroit Red Wings, resulting in the fine.

Norris drew a holding penalty on Red Wings forward Marco Kasper in the third period by falling to the ice while both players chased a loose puck.

The NHL issues a warning on the first offence, followed by a gradual scale from $2,000 to $4,000 fines for infractions two through four. Should a player embellish five times or more, the league enforces a $5,000 penalty to the player and an additional fine to the team's head coach.
