During the summer, riding home on my bicycle at night along Blanshard Street, I would occasionally encounter the unmistakable smell of marijuana smoke as cars passed me or pulled up beside me at stop lights.
The smell fades away in winter, presumably because windows are rolled up.
But I smelled it again as I was cycling on Tuesday night, a warmish night, with no rain. The weather was nice enough to crack open a window to clear the smoke.
I鈥檓 not sure what to make of this. A passenger relaxing perhaps. I鈥檓 hoping it wasn鈥檛 a driver. Though, I was once told by an aquaintance from university days that there is nothing wrong with smoking a joint while at the wheel. A question was posed: Where are the rigorous scientific studies demonstrating that it鈥檚 not a good idea?
