A walk in the park shouldn't be threatening

I, an 80-year-old senior, was walking my dog on-leash at Uplands Park when a large blond Labrador dog (off-leash) came charging over to my dog. My dog, being his usual feisty Welsh terrier self, growled at the Labrador, and with that a fight ensued.

I, an 80-year-old senior, was walking my dog on-leash at Uplands Park when a large blond Labrador dog (off-leash) came charging over to my dog.

My dog, being his usual feisty Welsh terrier self, growled at the Labrador, and with that a fight ensued. The owner of the Labrador appeared and was extremely hostile. He swore at me for not telling him that my dog was not always friendly and he then proceeded to kick my dog several times.

I was extremely scared, as I was on my own and this big man was threatening me. What should I do? I had decided to walk in Uplands Park rather than my Gordon Head neighbourhood because of some aggressive deer.

However, I believe the does are preferable to a large aggressive human being.

What a shame not to be able to walk in a wonderful, peaceful place such as Uplands Park without being threatened.
