That was an excellent article on Alzheimer鈥檚 and dementia.
And I鈥檓 furious about it.
I am 85 years of age.
Decades ago, I watched my first wife die of Alzheimer鈥檚.
I know the symptoms well. I have them. The first thing that goes with Alzheimer鈥檚 is the highest faculty of the human mind: Mathematics.
Cynthia collated four copies of a five-page memo for me. The first set was Page One. Page Three, Page Five, Page Four.
I am a language teacher. I can鈥檛 remember numbers. I can mark tests, but I can鈥檛 add them up. I can鈥檛 remember names.
I鈥檓 in an elders鈥� residence. The front desk has an endless flow of my lost books, wallets, gloves and letters. I have a library somewhere of books about Alzheimer鈥檚 (which, of course, I constantly lose).
You can see why I鈥檓 furious. I need all the help I can get. In addition, I know I would be very useful in the study of this plague.
Stick a fork in me. I鈥檓 done.
