Re: 鈥渟a国际传媒 will consider relief on gas prices,鈥 April 5.
Shortage, shmortage! There鈥檚 no shortage of gasoline. I see no service stations with 鈥淪orry, No Gas鈥 signs on their pumps.
There is, however, sometimes a shortage of competition between the refineries. If there鈥檚 no alternative to where distributors buy their product, the price goes up. Simple 鈥渨hatever the market will bear鈥 philosophy.
The only way to counteract these usurious swings is to have more Canadian refining capacity. We don鈥檛 have to be at the mercy of Washington state refineries. Let鈥檚 get busy and stop selling them crude oil at fire-sale prices and then be thanked by being gouged when we buy back gasoline to keep our economy running.
