My condolences to Judith Burke鈥檚 family and friends. I watched in horror while neighbours and strangers did their utmost to help her escape that deadly fire. This truly touched many people and their lives.
Thank you to everyone who helped to try to save Burke鈥檚 life. Brave bystanders and people who live in the building tried in vain to save her.
Thank you to the professionals, all the fire departments that did an exemplary job putting out the fire. To the police department and ambulance crews, thank you as well.
One takes for granted these essential services, but not me. I have learned a valuable lesson from Sunday鈥檚 tragic event: Look after one another, get to know your neighbours, help out if you can, but most of all, safety first and foremost.
