Once again, social engineering is taking the place of logic with city council and the mayor. Why is it the developers鈥� responsibility to provide affordable housing? These companies take all the market risk, employ people, yet are constantly made out to be the bad guys.
The people our tax dollars employ tell council that 30 per cent affordable housing will send developers fleeing, and our jobs with it, by the way.
Why do councillors not listen to staff and all the groups that continually tell them this? They sound like petulant children, sending everything back for review until they get the report they want.
It鈥檚 funny that the same day they complain, Mayor Stew Young forges ahead in Langford with a new proposal without any whining, just a mayor who works with developers to get things done that help everyone.
Maybe Coun. Ben Isitt and Mayor Lisa Helps should stop thinking they can fix society, and learn to listen and work with people. You can鈥檛 always just take your ball and run home.
