Re: 鈥淜enney, UCP romp to majority,鈥 April 17.

Just as Albertans have decided to give the reins of power to Jason Kenney, sa国际传媒鈥檚 National Inventory Report shows that the oil and gas sector is polluting at increasing rates. The oilsands alone in the past few years have produced more carbon pollution than the entire province of British Columbia or Quebec, and that pollution has been increasing annually.

Meanwhile, Albertans wail about a carbon tax, do not have a sales tax and the royalties paid by the fossil-fuel companies are the lowest in the world. They have been cunning about convincing many in sa国际传媒 with a slick $23-million ad campaign (including some whopping half-truths) that spending taxpayer dollars to build a bigger pipeline so that they can increase production and pollute even further is good for us.

Unfortunately, the mainstream media have bought the sob story hook, line and sinker.

When will the rest of sa国际传媒 wake up and tell our neighbouring province to pull its weight in the fight against climate change and stop bailing them out with massive subsidies and pipeline gifts?
