I am glad to see Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps and her posse are eager to stifle motor vehicles on Vancouver Street. Ottawa did the same to Sparks Street in the late 1960s.
The following is taken from Wikipedia: 鈥淲hile the mall is quite busy during weekdays, it is only lightly used during weekends.鈥� Sparks became 鈥渁n isolated island of pedestrian-friendly space in a traffic-dominated district,鈥� according to a 2003 report.
I wonder if Victoria will create such a void. The good news is that Sir John A. Macdonald鈥檚 statue perhaps could find a home there, where he could sit in solitude pondering how great sa国际传媒 has become.
