I sure hope the claim that higher energy costs will not change people鈥檚 behaviour one iota is wrong. Only a fool would buy the same oversized behemoth to drive when gas prices are north of $1.50 per litre. The same goes for oversized inefficient houses and all our energy-guzzling toys.
Canadians are serious wasters of energy, so we need these incentives to encourage us to conserve. Naturally, prices for things with an energy component will increase, but there are lots of energy savings available to offset those costs. Those who don鈥檛 change their behaviour one iota have only themselves to blame.
