April 9: Wilson-Raybould sets聽double standard

Jody Wilson-Raybould said: 鈥淲hat I will say about those conditions that were reported, one of them was around whether or not the current attorney general would issue a DPA, and I have to say unequivocally that I聽would never interfere with the independence of the attorney general.鈥

That denial is not good enough. What exactly was the condition Wilson-Raybould was discussing with the Prime Minister鈥檚 Office regarding a deferred-prosecution agreement after she was no longer attorney general?

There seems to be a double standard here. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau never directed her to do anything, and yet many in the media have falsely implied that he did. Wilson-Raybould admits that there was a condition she was discussing with the PMO regarding a deferred-prosecution agreement after she was no longer attorney general, and those same people in the media are willing to take her word for it that this condition did not represent interference with the independence of current Attorney General David Lametti.

Ask yourself this question: How could it not? Canadians should be very interested indeed not in what Wilson-Raybould is willing to say regarding this condition, but rather what she is not willing to say about it.
