Gwyn Morgan is right, on a couple of points. The 鈥渃ourts and inept leaders鈥 are failing us: But not just because they鈥檝e mishandled First Nation consultations and failed to consider oil-tanker impact on southern resident orcas.
Like Morgan, the courts and our politicians are ignoring science. And the science is quite clear: If the remaining oil, particularly dirty oilsands bitumen, isn鈥檛 left in the ground, we can forget about keeping the global average temperature rise from exceeding the 1.5C target set by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
It seems corporate and political anti-science and anti-environmentalist hysteria has ensured a climate-driven, dystopian future. Which highlights the second point Morgan got right: 鈥淐anadians should be very worried.鈥
