While it is imperative that local newspapers give voice to the myriad political perspectives put forward by 鈥渋nterest groups鈥 and party hacks, this commentary is clearly seen from the latter angle. A response is refreshingly simple.
Regarding the first issue, the PR referendum, let鈥檚 just have the vote before bickering over how bad each system is.
The second matter is where the criticism of the NDP public-project construction rules by the Independent Contractors and Businesses Association falls into the realm of sour grapes by a pressure group that lost the last election. Hence the party-hack label.
If the rules set out for 鈥渨orkers鈥 on these projects are so terrible, let them choose not to work there, not their bosses.
As to the 鈥渂ack room political deals鈥 referred to by the ICBA, the only response is: 鈥淥h, that is really rich, really, really rich!鈥
