Yes, we need fossil fuels to heat many of our buildings, to run many of our vehicles, for everything from cosmetics to plastics and food production.
Withdrawal pains from this habit will be beyond those of any other compulsive addictions. Just “cutting down” won’t fix it. Neither will delays, becoming vegetarians or reusing bags.
Lands will flood, forests burn, oceans die, massive tragic human migrations occur, but even as their gardens burn or waters lap against their front steps, there will be those who will not accept the inevitable destruction of our once-beautiful world. Sad?
