The pipeline protest near Houston has generated considerable media attention. The RCMP have the responsibility for enforcing a court order issued by the Supreme Court of sa国际传媒 This is certainly not a position they would prefer to be in, but as the police force with jurisdiction in that area, they have no choice in the matter.
Numerous opinions are being provided from people with different backgrounds. The question seems to be asked: What do you think about what the RCMP are doing? In some cases, the tone seems to suggest that the RCMP were not required to enforce the court order. That is certainly not the case.
Some of the protesters have suggested that the RCMP overreacted by bringing in a large number of resources.
Did they expect the local detachment to send a few of its members to the scene and handle it?
When the hockey riot occurred in Vancouver, the Vancouver police were criticized for not providing sufficient resources. In these situations, the police are damned if they do and damned if they don鈥檛. They have an extremely difficult job and should be praised rather than criticized at every opportunity.
