Folks who intend to vote in favour of retaining the first-past-the-post system should carefully consider not voting at all for the three proportional-representation choices. To do so would just give cover to the NDP-Green alliance鈥檚 possibly successful attempt to gain election for life, and install a system where the electorate will never again get an opportunity to 鈥渧ote the bums out.鈥
If enough people vote for one of the PR choices in numbers approaching 50 per cent, the government will be able to claim legitimacy for the whole odoriferous process, 鈥渘eutral arbiter鈥 or not. Why chance giving support to people gaming the system (extremely well, by the way)?
