I find it odd that the letter-writer would defend the Humboldt truck driver by saying: 鈥淚t was an accident.鈥� No one is disputing that the crash was an accident and that the driver had no intention of destroying so many lives.
Fortunately, he is doing the right thing and taking responsibility for his actions, which is appreciated by all the families so devastated by this 鈥渦nintentional event.鈥�
As for the claim that this tragedy could have been prevented with better road signs, here is another suggestion: It could have been prevented by paying attention to the stop sign, which was not obstructed in any way.
My heart goes out to both the families of the victims and the person responsible 鈥� yes, responsible, even though it was an accident.
