I heartily concur with the writer. Slates such as 鈥淯nited for Saanich鈥� have no place in municipal politics. Senior governments offload problems (e.g. housing, transportation) onto municipalities, which have limited sources of revenue for dealing with them.
In order to develop solutions, it鈥檚 crucial that we work together, not succumb to divisiveness in the form of slates.
We don鈥檛 need more examples of 鈥測our way vs. my way,鈥� 鈥渢he right way vs. the wrong way.鈥� We have quite enough of that from senior governments and the south.
How dare these people imply that if I don鈥檛 vote for them, I must therefore be 鈥渁gainst Saanich鈥�? Kudos to all the other candidates for running independently.
