Once again, local elections highlight the need for voting reform. The mayors in both Victoria and Saanich were elected to office despite the majority of voters voting against them.

In Victoria, 57 per cent of voters said no thanks to Lisa Helps, and in Saanich, 53 per cent of voters rejected Fred Haynes for mayor. Yet they both are declared 鈥渨inners.鈥

Is this really the type of democracy we want or is there another, better way that truly reflects the wishes of the people?
