Re: 鈥淐ampers get reprieve at Goldstream,鈥 Sept. 21.
I鈥檓 sure there are a lot of good people who are homeless and need a safe place with a roof over their heads. But when you see the results of a tent city in the community, with crime and drug abuse, it鈥檚 hard to have empathy for a tent city. With thousands of pounds of garbage and drug paraphernalia left behind and the stolen property from the nearby residents, it makes you wonder how they are going to be responsible and respectful of a home that the government is subsidizing.
Langford Mayor Stew Young had some good ideas: a task force that goes in and evaluates the people who want help and gets them the help they need.
There were more than 100 people at the Regina Park tent city, but only about 30 went out to Goldstream Park. Maybe they are the ones who really want the help. Who knows?
