The Invictus Games honour those who have been injured physically or mentally while fighting for their countries 鈥� it is the opposite of glorifying conflict, as it acknowledges the huge human cost of any war. It is something we should be proud to support and encourage.
We pay lip service to showing greater awareness of people with mental-health challenges in general, so this is an opportunity to show support for those among us who have been mentally injured by conflict and their families. Also, these games are a great opportunity for youth and young adults with physical or mental challenges to see what is possible.
(Besides which, if Prince Harry and Meghan come to Victoria, we can expect lots of visitors from all over the world, so the economic impact might be greater than is first thought.)
