It is encouraging that new, young elected leaders, along with the Sunrise movement in the U.S., are spearheading the new green plan to counteract the unscientific and illogical policies of the current U.S. government. Let us hope that when historians review the era of the reality-star president, they will trace the start of new movements like this, which might thrive in future.

I suggest that one strand of the Green New Deal should include the education of consumers and producers to move toward vegetarian and pescatarian diets.

Apart from the significant impact on climate change, such a move adds benefits to people鈥檚 health. This has been shown to be true in a large body of research. Like energy efficiency, this would be good for the climate and lead to new jobs and vibrant communities.

It would also help poorer people, as the basic cost of food would be much lower.
