When Dave Barrett was premier of sa国际传媒 (about 45 years ago), the NDP instituted a 鈥渧acant-land鈥� tax.
If I recall correctly, the mil rate was doubled for vacant land, in order to entice a person who owned a vacant lot (perhaps adjacent to their home, bought years ago to enjoy privacy) to develop that lot by allowing someone to build on it due to the increase in tax on that property.
Sound familiar? This time it is a 鈥渧acant-home鈥� tax.
Barrett was premier for only one term.
I predict Premier John Horgan will last only one term.
