Huge trees evoke a听sense of wonder

The feeling I had turning the page to the photo of the fallen cedar in the Nahmint Valley was very similar to the feeling on reading about ISIS鈥檚 destruction of some ancient wonder.

The difference is that I don鈥檛 understand the incomprehensible malaise of spirit of one, but sadly am familiar with the outdated profit model that led to this tree鈥檚 demise. Our remaining old-growth forests are worth so much more the value of the board feet they contain, be it as a tourist draw, a carbon sink or simply to evoke a sense of wonder.

These forests must be left intact now.
