Hardly an independent group, then. Perhaps the Independent Contractors and Business Association is desperate to keep a voting system that allows conservative political parties access to untrammelled power with a minority of votes. This power is then used to further the interests of their friends in business.
Proportional representation will definitely reduce the chance of such behaviour, and that is why the ICBA is so opposed to it.
