I entirely agree with the letter-writer that sa国际传媒 ought not to extradite Meng Wanzhou to the U.S.
However, I find it difficult to believe that the extradition request was made at the direction of U.S. President Donald Trump.
That seems especially unlikely in light of the question that is now being raised about whether the president has the authority to withdraw the request.
It seems to me to be much more likely that the request for her extradition was made by some U.S. prosecutor or official without first consulting with, or even informing, the president 鈥� and that the motive was to cause him as much political difficulty as possible.
