Don鈥檛 let Saanich follow Victoria鈥檚 lead
Re: " 'Do I have a seconder?鈥� Saanich councillor gets no backing for Wet'suwet'en motion," Feb. 27.
Here we go again. Now a Saanich councillor is putting forward a motion that has nothing to do with Saanich. We鈥檝e come to expect that sort of thing from the Victoria daycare, sorry, city council, but now Nathalie Chambers wants to join in on the insanity.
With luck, cooler heads will prevail and she will not find another councillor to second her ridiculous motion.
Hypothetical question. When can we expect our local councils to concern themselves more with local issues and spend less or better yet, no time on things they really have no business getting involved in?

Saanich council, stick聽to your work
May I humbly suggest two motions for Saanich council to bring forward and attempt to get backing from a seconder?
1. Let鈥檚 stay in our lane.
2. Let鈥檚 stay in our lane, and let the provincial and federal governments have their dialogue with the Wet鈥檚uwet鈥檈n, and let those parties and the courts try to come to a full understanding of how the 1997 Delgamuukw ruling speaks to Indigenous land title and the future of multi-billion dollar infrastructure projects in this country.
On second thought, the second motion is too complex. Just go with the first motion: Let鈥檚 stay in our lane.

We must embrace clean renewables
Please stop printing letters that claim 鈥渃lean-burning鈥� fracked methane is the fuel of choice. Yes it burns cleaner at the final use, but there is so much methane leakage along the production and distribution chain that the end result is a carbon fuel that has been shown to be just as polluting as coal.
It is time to acknowledge that we have crossed the bridge (fuel) and we need to enthusiastically embrace clean renewables. sa国际传媒 is still the only jurisdiction on the Pacific ring of fire that has no utility-scale geothermal power production.
The technology exists to get us out of the mess we have created, we need the political will to get moving.
