Re: 鈥淪ummer drought deals 鈥榙evastating loss鈥 to western red cedar, sa国际传媒鈥檚 official tree,鈥 Sept. 12.
The bleeding-heart story about western red cedar trees dying off was very touching. However, there is a far greater threat to the trees than a dry summer.
Old-growth logging on Vancouver Island is decimating these trees at a far greater rate than a couple of dry summers.
The sa国际传媒 government continues to sell off these forests to the lowest bidder, which many times happens to be mills in Asia. It will be only a matter of time before Vancouver Island has no old-growth forest left, save for a few parks.
sa国际传媒 continues to be the 鈥淏razil of the North.鈥
