A real alternative is non-partisan government as employed successfully in the Northwest Territories.
This model of representative democracy has functioned effectively for years without the vested interests or ideologies inherent in the sa国际传媒 and Canadian systems.
Independent representatives are elected by ridings, and in turn elect their speaker and cabinet from among the members. Legislation and other government functions are determined and approved by consensus rather than by required partisan voting.
Members may then truly represent the best interests of their constituents. Elections are of the perceived best potential riding representative rather than of a nominee representing a partisan ideology or a leader's personality.
