Finding iconic sa国际传媒 logging photos on the internet is as easy as falling out of a tree. A quick search retrieved one photo of a ladder against a tree stump as tall as three men standing on top of each other, another of eight men standing in the cut of a tree made by loggers and another of a car on top of a fallen tree.
Unbelievably majestic trees that you would think people would drop to their knees in awe of. Nope.
Today, in Port Alberni on Edinburgh Mountain, the same kind of magnificent trees are being logged for the very same reason. Human stupidity. Profit, regardless of cost.
We are, all of us, to some degree, a little bit mentally handicapped. We are allowing our government, an NDP government no less, to continue logging old-growth forests. There are 22聽million hectares of loggable forest, a staggering number and apparently we need all of it.
We haven鈥檛 progressed at all. The starting line is still front of us. Unbelievable.
Future generations won鈥檛 wonder how this happened. They鈥檒l just need to do an internet search, or whatever they search then, and see our greedy, smiling, industrious faces.
