I find it distressing that recent elections suggest that Canadians seem to be trending toward political leaders who are focused almost exclusively on short-term economic benefit — which means allowing runaway pollution — for today’s electorate, rather than consideration of long-term pollution’s inevitable assault on the well-being of our planet and the health of our children and grandchildren.
I urge eligible voters who think and care about tomorrow, rather than just short-term comforts today, to vote at every opportunity at every level of government for far-sighted leaders who have the welfare of the planet and of future generations of its inhabitants as their priorities.
If we incur slight financial cost, inconvenience or discomfort by acting on pollution control now, consider it cheap compared with what our indifference will otherwise cost future generations.
