Re: 鈥淗elps vows to back assembly鈥檚 ideas on amalgamation,鈥 May 8.
Saanich voters, beware when dealing with Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps.
She dealt with like-minded people (family) when she and a handful of people got rid of the Sir John A. Macdonald statue early one morning. We were told bike lanes would be $1聽million a kilometre, but some cost almost $2.5 million.
Everyone who drives downtown knows how she and council have clogged streets and reduced parking. Church people pay to park on Sunday.
We were told her 40-km/h speed limit would be in residential neighbourhoods, but when you drive along Gorge Road, it鈥檚 40 km/h on a beautiful three-lane road, with left turn lanes, full of motels and businesses. Now she is asking for a 30-km/h limit.
Helps now has a $90,000-a-year assistant and her council authorized 20 new city employees and 14 new crosswalks. No telling the cost of that.
Watch your property taxes and gas taxes go up when you give free bus passes. Believe that her team will be stacked.
