It鈥檚 a fact that electric cars do not emit carbon dioxide. They also have a more efficient drivetrain than conventional vehicles. But the overriding deception is when it comes to overall energy waste.
We are still using a 2,000-kilogram carriage to transport a 100-kg body plus shopping. That is five per cent efficiency. The remaining wasted energy, according to physics, is converted to what? Heat.
So until we drastically reduce the weight of those vehicles or simply eliminate them and use a scooter or bicycle or, dare I say it, walk, we are significantly adding to global warming. And let鈥檚 not forget that the metals required for those electric batteries are mined in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and refined by a monopoly elsewhere. They are not the way to go.
