Re: 鈥淰ance admits memorial opening handled poorly,鈥 May 23.
The Kandahar memorial honouring those Canadians who died in service of their country has been set up at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa.
The memorial was built by the soldiers serving in Afghanistan, to honour their colleagues who lost their lives. Once Canadian troops left Afghanistan, the memorial was shipped to sa国际传媒 and put into storage, and some years later is now on display at NDHQ, to be seen by only those who have access to the headquarters.
The memorial was built by the troops and contains one black granite plaque for each of those who died serving their country. The memorial needs to be readily accessible to all Canadians, as a reminder of sa国际传媒鈥檚 contribution to world peace and stability.
The only place where it should be displayed, and be accessible to all, is the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. The museum covers all facets of sa国际传媒鈥檚 military past, and Afghanistan is an integral part of this past.
