Re: 鈥淏ring us your old books (but check for weed stashes first),鈥 column, April 26.

As I read the section in Jack Knox鈥檚 column about checking books for stray enclosures and the list of items that had been found in previous book sales, I had an 鈥渙uch鈥 moment.

A few years ago following the book sale, I had a phone call from Jack Knox.

Yes, that Jack Knox. He asked if we had dropped off books for the sale and, yes, we had. He then went on to say that an obsolete Canadian passport in one of our names had been found in one of the books. I was aghast and stumbled through: 鈥淲here and when can we reclaim it?鈥

鈥淥h no,鈥 says Jack. 鈥淚t is a passport, so I will deliver it to you personally.鈥

Muttering my thanks, I waited for the doorbell to ring. Sure enough, Knox arrived, passport in hand. Chuckling, he related some of the unusual finds previously hidden in books, but never before a passport.

That鈥檚 our dedicated humourist, Jack Knox.
