Re: 鈥淢acdonald statue surprise a decision 9 months in making,鈥 Jan. 23.
What an example of poor management, poor decision-making and no respect for the public. According to the mayor, after numerous meetings, they couldn鈥檛 make up their minds.
Maybe that was because they never kept minutes so had no continuing record of anything that was decided, so at every meeting they had to start all over again. Minutes help record progress, help ensure a common understanding, and encourage openness and transparency, all desirable for reconciliation.
Instead, openness and transparency were avoided as long as possible, helped by having no minutes. Then they creep in early on a Saturday morning to remove the statue, with a reported extra unnecessary $18,000 cost in overtime.
