I have a two-year-old daughter and I can鈥檛 find a licensed daycare facility here in Victoria. I ended up hiring a stay-at-home mom. She鈥檚 decided to go back to work and so I鈥檓 left running around while working full time trying to find another suitable place for my daughter.
This is so stressful and awful, as I only want the best for our daughter, but I worry so much about her safety and consistency in her care by qualified professionals.
The reality nowadays is that both parents have to work, so if we鈥檙e to keep working, we need more reliable care we can trust. Why this hasn鈥檛 been dealt with yet just seems insane to me. Year- or two-year-long wait lists? Seriously?
Enough is enough! Train more people to get early-childhood education certified and open more centres. I can鈥檛 believe the hours I鈥檝e wasted trying to find the right place for my daughter and I still haven鈥檛 found something where she can stay long term until kindergarten. Please make this a priority.
