Re: 鈥淢aritime Museum envisions national status, return home,鈥 Feb. 1.
I am so glad the Maritime Museum of sa国际传媒 is planning a return to its Bastion Square home of 50 years. An expanded and revitalized national museum would become an old-town anchor tenant, and a proud place to showcase the maritime culture of First Nations and those who later settled in this great place.
Our city and region need family-affordable cultural and tourism options. We have lost many of the inexpensive attractions that once flourished.
Arguably, not all were world class, but they were entertaining. Remember the Classic Car Museum, Fable Cottage, the wax museum, Sealand, the Glass Castle, Undersea Gardens and others. Activities that a family could do in an afternoon without spending hundreds of dollars.
I am looking forward to this new gathering place where we can share our history, art and stories, and engage with each other.
