Re: 鈥淟andlord feels besieged by 20聽campers,鈥 Oct. 4.
Back about 1980, I purchased a rundown but lovely piece of property at 5090 West Saanich Rd. We developed this unique property into a lovely residence, dahlia farm and pottery studio.
Customers could walk the gardens and order their choices for the following season, and the studio was home to workshops and even foreign students.
It was called Woodshed Pottery and Dahlia Farm. Customers came from far and wide for those floral arrangements.
Bad knees, etc., forced us to sell 15聽years ago, and with dismay we have watched this property become home to derelict boats, motorhomes, cars and chesterfields, while gardens were filled with everything imaginable. For some reason, Saanich has ignored neighbours鈥 complaints for years and this residence was a most likely place for a tent city.
The owner who seems to be so shocked by this new development must share the blame with the lessee/renter or Saanich municipality. A place of beauty is now a disgrace to the environment.
