The article discusses problems with trying to recycle glass jars, problems with putting them in a landfill, what to do with glass that is recovered (grinding it into filler), etc.
There is no mention of sterilizing and reusing glass jars, particularly standardized ones used for food. This solution to the problem of what to do with glass would doubtless have its own problems, but studies have shown it to be the most cost-effective method of dealing with the issue.
“Reduce, reuse, recycle” is good, but there doesn’t seem to be much focus on reusing.
