It was so encouraging to read that the project 鈥淥peration Shoeboxes鈥� is still being carried out.
During my 10-plus-year tenure working in humanitarian relief in various war zones in Africa, while posted in the Republic of Guinea, West Africa, I worked in an orphanage called Jeunes en Compassion (children of compassion).
During this time, the orphanage was a recipient of shoeboxes from sa国际传媒. One of the shoeboxes contained a photograph and letter advising that it was packed and sent from an elementary school in Newfoundland. What a blessing it was to receive these precious gifts and school supplies.
I took photographs of all the children holding their shoeboxes and the surrounding environment in which these children lived. Then, we wrote a letter back to the children and staff in this Newfoundland school just to let them know where their shoeboxes ended up and the difference their act of kindness made to these children on the other side of the world.
