I am not a 鈥渟peculator.鈥� I am a grandparent who spends a good part of the year in Victoria supporting my family here.
Not only do I offer grandmotherly love and support to them, but also offer much support to the community. I donate and volunteer for various organizations. I have made major purchases and support local arts and education, pay property taxes and often act as a friendly ambassador to visitors.
To ask me to rent my unit is ludicrous, as I would then need to rent somewhere else when I am here. This whole thing makes no sense, and is a tax grab that will more likely grab those designing it where it hurts most.
